Abstract
Sosyal medyanın bireyler tarafından sıklıkla kullanılmaya başlanmasıyla gözetim ve teşhir kavramları sayısız çalışmalara konu olmuştur. Bazı çalışmalarda elde edilen bulgulara göre, bireylerin sosyal medyada gözetlendiklerinin farkında oldukları ve kendilerini gönüllü olarak teşhir ettiği sonucuna varılmıştır. Bazı çalışmalarda da bireylerin sosyal medyada gözetlendiklerinin farkında olma düzeylerinin düşük olduğu ve rızaları doğrultusunda kendilerini teşhir ettikleri sonucuna ulaşılmıştır. Bu çalışmada, bireyler sosyal medyada izlendiklerinin, takip edildiklerinin, gözetlendiklerinin bilincinde midirler? Bilincindeyseler ters bir çelişki olarak sosyal medya kullanımlarında kendilerini teşhir etmede, takip edinilebilir, izlenebilir bir durumda olma eğiliminden neden vazgeçememektedir? Sorusuna yanıt aramaktadır. Bu amaçla çalışmada derinlemesine görüşme yöntemi kullanılarak 18 ve 25 yaş aralığında sosyal medyayı kullanan ve İstanbul’daki üniversitelerin lisans programlarında öğrenim gören 4 öğrenci ile görüşme yapılmıştır. Çalışma sonucunda, katılımcıların sosyal medyada gözetlendiklerine dair bilinçlerinin yüksek bir seviyede olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Ayrıca katılımcıların sosyal medyaya kendilerini teşhir etmekten vazgeçmeme eğilimlerinin çeşitli nedenlere dayandırıldığı saptanmıştır. Bu nedenlerin başında sosyal medyaya bağımlı olma, herkesin sosyal medyayı kullanması ile kendini teşhir etmesi, diğerleri tarafından merak edilme arzusu, sosyal medyadaki beğenilerin kişisel tatmin vermesi gelmektedir.

Abstract
With the frequent use of social media by individuals, the concepts of surveillance and exposure have been the subject of numerous studies. According to the findings obtained in some studies, it was concluded that individuals are aware of being watched on social media and that they voluntarily expose themselves. In some studies, it has been concluded that the level of awareness of individuals being watched on social media is low and they expose themselves in line with their consent. In this study, are individuals aware that they are being watched, followed, and spied on on social media? If they are conscious, why can't they give up their tendency to be in a followable and watchable state in displaying themselves in the use of social media, as an inverse contradiction? He is looking for an answer to his question. For this purpose, using in-depth interview method, 4 students between the ages of 18 and 25 who use social media and study in undergraduate programs of universities in Istanbul were interviewed. As a result of the study, it was determined that the awareness of the participants that they were being watched on social media was at a high level. In addition, it was determined that the tendency of the participants not to give up exposing themselves to social media was based on various reasons. At the beginning of these reasons are being addicted to social media, exposing himself with the use of social media, the desire to be wondered by others, and the likes on social media giving personal satisfaction.
