Abstract

Abstract

Social sciences tries to understand and interpret facts through an experimental, rational and objective methodology that facilitates the presentation of facts that contribute to knowledge, as in the natural sciences. For this reason, the scientific research process proceeds within the scope of certain strategies that determines a specific direction to the study. The strategies (designs) includes the scientific method approaches and procedures required to gather and analyze research-related information. Quantitative strategies serve to examine underlying and unobservable information. At the same time, the researcher's ability to get out of the object and context he/she is investigating, which manifests itself within the scope of scientific and objectivity phenomena, is another dimension of this approach. Counting, comparing, classifying and modeling, since it is falsifiable logical structure that makes a hypothesis scientific, reliable and valid; Measuring the degree of doubt or certainty is useful for clarifying the hypothesis and assessing the impact of the phenomenon. In this context, quantitative strategic approaches in social sciences are a necessity rather than an ideological opinion. For the researcher, quantitative design is not an end but a useful tool. The aim of this study is to reveal the epistemological and ontological aspects of quantitative strategies, as well as to discuss how this approach, which emerged with positivist philosophical beliefs and views, manifests itself on different disciplines in social sciences. It is aimed to help graduate students and new researchers who will conduct social research to progress according to the type of information needed by creating a resource.
