Abstract

Abstract

In the study, the Joker movie was analyzed based on the uses and gratifications theory. In the analysis, the scenes that viewers get benefits and satisfaction were determined. This analysis significantly differs from the previous uses and gratifications studies. As a matter of fact, data were not collectedby using questionnaires or interview techniques. Instead, watching the movie, hypothetically relevant examples were found scene by scene and interpreted. As a result of the analysis, 23 useful and satisfying scenes were found. While this movie creates satisfaction for the viewers with its related scenes, it also makes the viewers think. One of the most important satisfaction scenes the movie offers is its critique of capitalism and provide a satisfaction for those who are not happy with this system.
